GENERAL RULES
To be eligible for the 2008 Forum competition, an undergraduate student must be in good standing with the University and must not have graduated before August 26,
2007. Any individual submitting an abstract or a research-in-progress summary must have performed the research. By submitting an abstract and registration form, the undergraduate student agrees to provide and present the completed presentation for judging. Abstract submissions will be accepted through Monday, March 31,
2008. Upon receipt of the application, each student's advisor will be e-mailed for approval of the project. Advisor approval must be obtained in order for a student to participate in the Forum.
Beginning at 9:00am on the morning of the Forum, 4' high x 4' wide boards and easels will be available for setting up poster displays. A 16'x28' performance space will also be available for research displayed in the form of performance. All set-ups must be completed by 11 a.m. and student participants will be expected to remain at the Forum from noon until the end of the event. Each presenter should be prepared to explain his or her project and answer questions from the judges.
Documentation will be provided to excuse students from class or work in order to participate in the Forum.
Lunch will be provided to student participants from 11 a.m. – noon. During this time, students will be able to view other posters and prepare for judging.
Judging will begin at noon. During the Forum, a panel of judges will review the posters or other presentation media and assess points based primarily on clarity, knowledge of the subject matter, and poise in answering questions. Judging guidelines will be distributed to students in advance of the Forum. Cash awards will be given to winners in each category.
Standards of scholarly integrity apply to all abstracts and presentations.
